How To Kill A Witch: A guide for the patriarchy
WHY IS THIS BOOK ON MY SHELF? - This is an epic book written by The Witches of Scotland Claire Mitchell and Zoe Venditozzi. And when I say epic I mean it.
I cannot praise this book enough.
It is funny, historic, accurate, thought-provoking and uplifting all at the same time.
The Witches of Scotland look deep into history and the misogynistic background of the witch trials and the legal — or absurdly pseudo-legal — backing for them.
It is a must-read for everyone.
So why should we read it?
This book takes you through an historical journey from the 15th Century to the present day. Yes, the present day! Even today women across the world are still being accused of witchcraft and suffering horrific crimes against humanity in the name of it.
This book explains why these things have happened and who was, were, and are, ultimately responsible for hundreds of deaths throughout the centuries.
The chapters are well set out and easy to read. Drawing on historical primary sources, with plenty of annotated references that are set out at the back of the book in chapter by chapter format, making it easy to follow if you want to go on a deep dive yourself.
There is a glossary of Scottish words if you need a bit of help, and plenty of banter between the authors in and around every chapter. As I said above, it is both amusing and thought provoking as well as informative. So, pretty much everything you need.
Add it to your Lore Library, you won't be disappointed!
